Baby Zebra tragically dies at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

A baby zebra tragically died Thursday morning due to an unforeseen accident at Disney’s Animal Kingdom lodge.

Guests staying at Animal Kingdom lodge watched as Disney Cast Members tried to save the life of the baby zebra who ran head-first into a gate after being spooked by two ostriches that had just been released into the safari enclosure.

A video of Cast Members working to try to save the zebra was shared online.

In an email to WESH a Disney spokesperson said: “We are heartbroken over the loss of our Hartmann’s mountain zebra that passed away yesterday, and we ask that you keep our dedicated animal care Cast Members in your thoughts.”

Back on Oct. 13, 2021, the animal care team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World Resort welcomed a new female Hartmann’s mountain zebra foal to the herd. I am not 100% certain but I think this is the Baby Zebra that passed away from the Animal Kingdom lodge.

So sad…
