STUDIO GHIBLI AND LUCASFILM SURPRISE DISNEY+ with Baby Grogu Short
Celebrating the Third Anniversary of “The Mandalorian” and Disney+, the New, Original Short Premieres Exclusively on November 12.
Baby Grogu is coming back sooner than expected! Disney+ shared a special surprise today for fans of Lucasfilm’s “The Mandalorian.” A new, original short, “Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies,” from famed Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli, will premiere on November 12, exclusively on Disney+ in celebration of the third anniversary of the streaming service and the debut of the popular Star Wars series “The Mandalorian.” The hand-drawn, animated short is directed by Katsuya Kondo with music by Ludwig Göransson.

Zen is an original, animated short directed for the streaming service by Katsuya Kondo. The animated short helps commemorate the third anniversary of the Mandalorian. The film focuses on Grogu, the breakout Mandalorian character known to many as Baby Yoda.
This is not the first time we have seen Japanese animation in the Star Wars universe. Earlier in 2022 Star Wars: Visions premiered on Disney+, combining the talents of several well-known Japanese animation studios. Star Wars: Visions featured animated shorts set in the Star Wars universe and was met with critical and popular acclaim.
Disney+ continues to add direct-to-consumer exclusive originals, including feature-length films, documentaries, live-action, and animated series, and short-form content. With unprecedented access to Disney’s long history of incredible film and television entertainment.

This is a busy month for Lucasfilm which will release the series, Willow, on Disney+ on November 30. Next up for the famed studio is the fifth Indiana Jones feature-length film, which is slated for release on June 30, 2023.
