The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie preview held on Tuesday night at the Hollywood Arc movie theatres was standing room only.  The theatre full of Marvel fans had an air of anticipation that only a Marvel movie event can bring.

From the start Avengers: Age of Ultron provided non stop action.  The first scenes start off with an epic battle  showcasing our super heroes incredible powers and skills.  Along with the six Avengers , we also have War Machine, Nick Fury and the Falcon, and twins Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver – best described as “he’s fast, she’s weird” and last but not least Vision.    Joining the unique group is Ultron – a super smart, mostly indestructible robot who has short circuited and is now on a mission to wipe out the world.

Josh Whedon has once again brought us an action packed movie with humor and one-liners that we have come to expect from the Marvel movies. I was happy to see that several characters received a bit more attention and although it was an emotional moment here and there, it made the film so much better for me.   Seeing Black Widow, Hawkeye and Hulk in vulnerable scenes, will tug at even the strongest fan’s heartstrings.

While the storyline is standard Marvel superheroes fighting their way to justice, Avengers: Age of Ultron had a few surprises up their sleeves.   The main story line has Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) trying to control artificial intelligence.   Along comes Ultron (played by James Spader) a scary and unstoppable robot with a comedic side that makes you laugh out loud.  Ultron will give the heroes plenty of opportunity to show off their skills.  The substory lines give us a look into some of the personal lives of characters and their vulnerabilities.

Starting out as arch rivals, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and twin brother, Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) are later welcomed into the Avengers team and come through in an action packed scene that left me glued to my seat in disbelief.

Avengers: Age of Ultron delivers in every scene, from the funny one liners to the incredible teamwork, as well as some unexpected personal moments that bring a better understanding and emotional depth to several characters.   It is not without surprises and for me, a few heart tugging scenes here and there especially with one of my favorite characters, Hulk.

Although not a huge Marvel fan when I started as Entertainment Writer for Chip and Co.  with each Marvel film I review, my addiction and admiration grows and I find myself  waiting anxiously for the next release with excitement and anticipation that only a fan can feel.

Don’t miss Avengers: Age of Ultron in theatres, May 1, 2015.  Arrive early and stay through to the end of the film credits for a surprise sneak peek from a familiar face.
