Ask a Disney Question: Paying for Tips on the Disney Dining Plan.

This question comes from Jansen, who asks:  “We have used the Disney Dining Plan before but always wrote in a tip according to what they suggested on the receipts. Can you use cash or a charged debit card instead of charging it to your room key?”

Jansen, thanks for reading the site and for your question.  This is no problem at all.  You can use cash or a credit card to pay for tips and other items you order that are not on the dining plan. Many people don’t use their room keys for whatever reason so Disney is used to people paying this way.   Personally, I find that if I use the room key it can quickly get out of control, so I don’t tend not to use it.

Good luck and I hope this helps!
