Now here is a movie I didn’t think I’d see on blu-ray for quite some time, and man I’m glad to see it’s finally on it’s way! ‘Arachnophobia’, starring John Goodman and Jeff Daniels, is one of those rare cross genre films that absolute works on every level. It’s really funny, but it’s also pretty creepy, especially for me, because I hate spiders. The film follows Ross Jennings (Daniels), who has terrible arachnophobia. The irony of the situation turns out to be, he may be town’s only hope for survival when a new, and incredibly deadly,  form of spider shows up and rocks their way of life. This is truly one of those films that is just so much fun to watch, because it really is funny, while also being downright at chilling at times. I can’t believe I’m actually getting this on blu-ray this year, and I’m so excited about it!

The film, produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by long time collaborator Frank Marshall, is one that all should definitely check it out.  It’s easily one of my favorite films of the 1990s, and I remember being incredibly terrified of it as a kid. But now I can’t wait to revisit it again, because it’s been years, to really experience it again. And to have it in glorious high definition, the best possible way to see it? I’m absolutely sold, and I can’t wait. Thank you, Disney, for going back into your vault and grabbing this little gem and releasing it this year. This will be a great time to revisit it, so I can’t wait for September 4 to get here. And check back in a few weeks for my review of the film.
