Anthony Mackie Creates New Orleans Grocery Worker Relief Fund For Those Affected by COVID-19. There is no doubting that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the world in many ways, most of them very negatively. With food insecurity and unemployment at an all time high in the United States many celebrities have been helping to raise funds for various food banks and distributors around the world. Though for many folks a lack of food isn’t the only issue.
Avengers and Altered Carbon star, Anthony Mackie is partnering with United Way to help grocery store workers in New Orleans, LA by giving a $150 credit towards the electric bill of those who qualify.
“We often take for granted the people that are always there for us. I go to the grocery store 3-4 times a week for me and my family,” said Mackie. “Every time, I come face to face with essential workers who are providing me and so many others with one of the most important necessities, food. Now, more than ever, it is important that we express our gratitude and appreciation.”
“The more we can do to support essential workers while we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, the better they are able to focus on caring for their families and the community,” said David Ellis, president and CEO of Entergy New Orleans. “We are proud to partner with New Orleans native Anthony Mackie, United Way of Southeast Louisiana and the New Orleans Council on Aging in supporting grocery workers who remain committed to ensuring residents of New Orleans have access to fresh and nutritious food.”
Mackie is trying to do some good and bring some appreciation to those who normally get overlooked by those they help and feels it’s now time we acknowledge their sacrifice to help others during this difficult time. Mackie’s latest project, Marvel Studios The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to begin streaming exclusively on Disney+ in late 2020 or early 2021 due to production delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The series is rumored to be split into two parts as re-shoots have yet to begin on the series due to the delays.
We love seeing celebrities making a positive impact on the community and looking out for the people they care about. We also can’t wait for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to premiere later this year! Which Marvel series are you the most excited for? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
