Animal Kingdom's Primeval Whirl No Longer Listed on Digital Park Map

Primeval Whirl in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is now gone. Just gone, as in nothing is left. No Ride, No Entrance or Exit, nothing. Primeval Whirl has gone the way of the Dinosaur, that is to say, extinct. We have written about the demolition of the love/hate relationship with the roller coaster aka Wild Mouse type ride before. It always ends up being a room divider. Ya’ll either love it and hate those that do not or hate it and hate everyone who loves it. Oddly enough, there is never a middle ground. We are kidding of course. Please don’t hate on me for reporting this.

Read below for a brief history of Primevil Whirl in Disney’s Dinoland section of Animal Kingdom. While some of us here are happy to see this ride go away, others are arguing the point of how much fun they had destroying their necks and backs.

Primeval Whirl officially opened to the public on March 31, 2002. It was the first roller coaster to open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Primeval Whirl received mixed reviews from guests, as some praised the theming and dual-track ride experience, but others criticized it as not being up to Disney standards. Many guests only saw a cheap carnival with off-the-shelf rides and games sitting in a cracked asphalt parking lot. In reality, it was all carefully designed and constructed to be a loving tribute to the roadside attractions between the 1940s and 1960s before the Interstate Highway System rendered the old routes obsolete. The shabby asphalt was actually carefully textured concrete.

Now comes the great debate! What is next? What can fill this space? Our logical side tells us that they will not do away with the whole Dinosaur theming. You would need to remove all the rides in that section to do that. Then what would you do with Dinosaur the Dark Ride? We thought maybe a real wooden coaster that was originally planned? Others say Zootopia. Cars Land like DCA, but that doesn’t work in Animal Kingdom. Let us know your opinion.
