Amazon Obtains MGM for $8.45 Billion Merger. Amazon and MGM have announced an agreement that will allow MGM to merge with Amazon at the agreed-upon price of $8.45 Billion USD. MGM is responsible for famous titles and franchises such as the James Bond film, Rocky, Pink Panther, Spaceballs, Legally Blonde, Tomb Raider, and more. MGM has been in the business for nearly 100 years, and will be a crowning jewel for the Amazon brand.

It is currently unknown which projects currently in development will stay in production and will premiere through Amazon. Currently, MGM has several big-name sequels in the works including Legally Blonde 3, Tomb Raider 2, Creed III, Fiddler on the Roof, and more. MGM also owns studios such as Orion Pictures, United Artists, and American International Pictures, which are all expected to be absorbed in the merger.
