Monstropolis Foundation Work Advances as Door Coaster Prepares to Rise at Hollywood Studios
Construction crews are hard at work laying the groundwork for Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the latest aerials from @bioreconstruct show this land is building up from the ground down. Just beyond the rocky spires of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, foundation work continues for the upcoming Monsters, Inc. door roller coaster, and the site is starting to look less like dirt piles and more like a blueprint coming to life.

Since December, crews have poured the initial slab of concrete, followed by a thick layer of engineered fill that completely covered that first pour in January. Now we can see multiple levels taking shape including sand bases, rebar grids, conduits, and footers. Electrical components are already being tucked beneath the surface, and teams were even spotted prepping rebar for the next concrete section. The foundation system appears to be nearing completion, which means vertical construction on the show building could begin soon.
This attraction will be Disney’s first ever suspended coaster and vertical lift coaster, inspired by Monsters, Inc.. Revealed at D23 in 2024, the model teased a high energy dash through the door vault, with guests entering through queue spaces located in the foreground of the construction site. If you have been tracking permits and poured slabs like we have, this is the phase where anticipation really starts to climb.

Elsewhere in Monstropolis, scaffolding is rising on what will become The Glob Theater. The building that once housed MuppetVision 3D is already seeing facade changes, with new cutouts appearing in the brickwork. Concept art shows green monster inspired trim and faux apartment windows transforming the theater into something that looks straight out of downtown Monstropolis.
There may not be any scream canisters installed just yet, but the energy is definitely building. With foundations nearly complete, it feels like the next time we check in, we could be looking at steel reaching for the sky.
