🎢👷 Aerial Views Reveal Construction Kickoff for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Replacement at Universal Studios Florida

It’s official: the countdown has begun for the final ride on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, and the skies are giving us our best look yet at what’s rising in its place. New aerial photos from X user bioreconstruct reveal that construction is already well underway around and behind the iconic red coaster, and permits confirm the groundwork isn’t just for temporary use—this is the start of something big.

📍 Where It’s Happening
The construction zone stretches from just behind the Hard Rock Café all the way to the soundstages along the ride’s launch and loop track. Heavy equipment and cleared lots now sit where guest pathways and landscaping once were. Meanwhile, a project site map shows that a brand-new structure is planned, with a footprint that closely resembles a roller coaster station in both size and shape. And yes, it’s within the same alignment as the Rip Ride Rockit’s layout.

🛠️ Permits Say: New Attraction Incoming
Filed permits don’t spill many secrets, but they do state that the project involves “removing existing attraction and replacing with proposed attraction.” But we know this much: the work zone spans over six acres, and it’s not just a staging yard. This area is expected to be fully integrated into the final footprint of the attraction that will replace Rip Ride Rockit.

🎢 What’s Next: Ghostbusters? Fast & Furious Tech?
Though Universal has yet to make anything official, fan speculation is running wild, and for good reason. Many believe this project will bring a Ghostbusters-themed coaster to Universal Studios Florida. The rumored ride system? A launch coaster similar to the one currently being built for the Fast & Furious coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood.

🎶 The End of an Era
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will take its final bow on August 18, 2025, after nearly 16 years of thrilling guests with customizable soundtracks and vertical lift hill chills. While it’s certainly had its ups and downs (pun intended), the coaster has become a signature sight at Universal Orlando’s entrance, and its replacement is poised to be even bigger.

🌀 What We Know So Far

  • Construction is underway in multiple zones connected to Rip Ride Rockit’s footprint
  • New building planned matches the scale of a coaster station
  • Permits cover 6.27 acres and confirm attraction replacement
  • Ride closure date is August 18, 2025
  • Theme speculation points toward Ghostbusters
  • Ride tech may mirror the multi-launch Fast & Furious coaster in development for Universal Hollywood

Whatever comes next is likely to be one of the biggest additions to Universal Studios Florida in years; and if the rumors are true, it could be the supernatural thrill ride we didn’t know we needed.
