New Aerial Photos Reveal Major Progress on Monstropolis Transformation at Hollywood Studios

The transformation of Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is picking up serious steam, and new aerial photos from bioreconstruct are giving us a bird’s-eye peek at the monster makeover in progress. From scaffolding creeping across rooftops to buildings getting fresh layers of theming, this corner of the park is slowly saying goodbye to its Muppet past and hello to a city powered by screams.

One of the most noticeable updates is around Gonzo’s Royal Flush, which is now wrapped in tarps and surrounded by scaffolding, including new work around the rooftop water tower. Over near the former Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, the changes are even more dramatic. Windows are blocked, exterior colors are shifting, and rooftop water towers have been removed, signaling its transformation into Harryhausen’s, the iconic sushi restaurant from Monsters, Inc. Meanwhile, construction crews have also moved into the MuppetVision 3D entrance, where scaffolding now surrounds the area and the clock tower has lost its familiar faces.

Elsewhere in the land, recent demolition has cleared space near Grand Avenue, leaving behind a blank canvas that is expected to become The Glob Theater, a clever Monsters, Inc.-inspired twist on the Globe Theatre. Concept art hints at a vibrant streetscape filled with red brick buildings, green accents, and playful details like eye-themed clock faces.

While it is still early days, these updates show that Monstropolis is quickly moving from concept art to reality, and it is shaping up to be a scream-worthy addition to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
