Aerial Photos Capture Dinoland USA Ahead of Closure

Dinoland U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is set to become extinct, and new aerial photos shared by X user @bioreconstruct provide a glimpse of the land before its upcoming transformation. Slated for demolition, Dinoland U.S.A. will make way for the highly anticipated Tropical Americas expansion, a new land themed after Encanto and Indiana Jones. The images showcase the mini-land in its final days, including Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, which will close permanently on January 13, 2025.

One aerial photo focuses on Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, capturing the iconic midway games, TriceraTop Spin ride, and the Dinosaur Treasures store—all of which will see their last guests on January 12, 2025. Another photo provides a zoomed-out perspective of Dinoland U.S.A., offering a bittersweet look at the area before it disappears forever.

The closure of Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama marks the end of an era. Since Primeval Whirl’s permanent closure in late 2021, the land has remained largely stagnant. Now, Disney is preparing to breathe new life into this corner of Animal Kingdom with a reimagined space celebrating the cultures and stories of the Tropical Americas.

While most of Dinoland U.S.A. will be demolished, the popular Dinosaur attraction will remain open through 2025 before being re-themed as an Indiana Jones ride. This Jeep-like thrill ride, which opened with the park in 1998, shares the same track layout as the Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland, making it a natural fit for the expansion.

These aerial photos may be the last chance for fans to see Dinoland U.S.A. in its current form, capturing the charm and nostalgia of a land that has entertained guests for over two decades. With the countdown to closure underway, now is the time to say goodbye to Dinoland U.S.A. and look forward to the exciting future of Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
