KELLY GOODE NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING

Kelly Goode has been named Vice President, Original Programming for ABC Family, it was announced today by Kate Juergens, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Development and Chief Creative Officer, ABC Family, to whom she will report. A top executive, Goode joins the network with vast experience in programming, formerly serving as GSN’s Head of Programming and most recently working as an in-house executive producer through an overall development deal with GSN.

In her new position, Goode will be responsible for all existing scripted series, including drama and comedy. She will also focus on the important relationship with production teams and facilitate the communication between different productions and all ABC Family departments. As the number of original series on ABC Family has increased dramatically, a dedicated Current team became necessary. Goode will head the Current team, within Juergens programming department. Jennifer Gerstenblatt, Director Programming; Kelly Garrett and Danielle De Jesus, Managers Programming and Julie Katchen, Coordinator Programming, will report directly to Goode.


This summer ABC Family launched five new series, along with four returning hit series, and to date is the #1 cable TV network in Prime in Women 18-34 and #2 network in female Millennials. Critical and social media darling “Pretty Little Liars” is pacing as cable TV’s #1 series across in Women 18-34, Viewers 12-34 and Females 12-34, while newcomers “Twisted” and “The Fosters” are the top 2 new cable TV series in Females 12-34.

Juergens said, “We are most fortunate to have Kelly join our team. Her insights, expertise and ability to foster great relationships will help guide our current slate of hit originals into their next stage of growth and continue to shepherd our successful programming strategy.”

As GSN’s head of programming, Goode drove all of the network’s original program development, scheduling, acquisitions and talent initiatives. She also developed “Baggage” and “The American Bible Challenge,” two of the network’s highest-rated original series, in addition to creating programming for high-profile talent such as Howie Mandel, Sherri Shepherd, Drew Carey and Bill Engvall.

Prior to GSN, Goode was Head of Television Programming at New Deal Productions, director John Singleton’s production company, based at Warner Bros. Television, where she was in charge of all original series content. Goode had oversight of drama and comedy series, including pilot development set up at Showtime and Fox Broadcasting Company.

Previously Goode served as Senior Vice President, Programming, at Lifetime Television. During her tenure at Lifetime, the network was #1 in basic cable ratings for two broadcast seasons. Prior to Lifetime, she served as Vice President, Programming, at CBS Productions. Before working at CBS Productions, she served at CBS Entertainment as Manager and Director of Comedy Development. She began her executive career at Columbia Pictures Television, in the Current Programs Department.

 

TWISTED

A disturbing prank rattles the Desai house in the episode titled “Docu-Trauma,” airing Tuesday, July 30th, at 9:00pm ET/PT on ABC Family.

Danny finds himself besieged by a group of masked pranksters and feels increasingly alone as the town of Green Grove continues to vilify him. Tyler asks to talk to Danny for his new documentary about the town’s reaction to Danny’s return. In an effort to fit in, Danny decides to throw a party with Tyler’s help, in exchange for the interview, but things do not go smoothly. Meanwhile, Jo goes on a date with Tyler, while Rico struggles with feelings for his best friend. Kyle steps up the pressure on Karen causing her to make a stunning revelation.

THE FOSTERS

The drastic consequences of Jesus’ visit to Ana play out in the episode titled “Vigil,” airing Monday, July 29th at 9:00pm ET/PT on ABC Family.

While Lena tries to process the extent of Mariana and Jesus’ lies, Stef and Mike head to Ana’s to try and find Jesus. What they encounter lands someone in the hospital and changes the family forever. While the family waits for news, tensions rise over the secrets the kids kept from Stef and Lena and even Brandon realizes he’s to blame for covering for them both. Callie has a heart-to-heart with Brandon to help him understand the perspective of a foster child and Brandon learns how Callie’s mother died. Wyatt calls Callie on her growing bond with Brandon but Callie is all too familiar with the damage that could result from this kind of relationship.

SWITCHED AT BIRTH

Bay plans a Deaf Day at Maui, Kansas, and Daphne runs into Chef Jeff in an all-new episode of “Switched at Birth” titled “As the Shadows Deepen,” airing Monday, July 29 at 8:00PM ET/PT on ABC Family.
When business at Maui, Kansas starts to slow, Bay coordinates a Deaf Day and works with Emmett to organize a special screening of “Deafenstein.” Daphne is shocked at what she discovers when she runs into Chef Jeff and John brings some business to Regina.

Meanwhile, Toby tries to help Nikki cope with a family tragedy from her past.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS

Hanna decides Mona is her only hope to save her mom in “The Guilty Girl’s Handbook,” an all new episode of ABC Family’s hit original series “Pretty Little Liars,” airing Tuesday, July 30th (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT).

Hanna comes up with a desperate plan to save her mother from a conviction and turns to the only person she thinks can help –Mona. Caleb tries to tell her Mona can’t be trusted, causing Mona to prove her loyalty in the most unexpected way. And Spencer returns to an old haunt to investigate new evidence relating to Wilden and his surprising ties to another mysterious death.

Meanwhile, “A’s” recent machinations take their toll on Emily and her mom, driving Emily to reconnect with her old boss Zoe (Rumer Willis) to look for an escape. And Aria relies on Jake (Ryan Guzman) to help her understand Mike’s new attitude, leaving them both confused about the nature of their relationship.
