I never thought I would ever get the chance to dine at Club 33. Ever. It was even on my bucket list. But once I heard from my boyfriend that he had met a member, I knew it was my chance.
The member kindly made our reservations for us a few months ago. Once our reservations were made, I counted down the days until our time would finally come.
Our dinner reservations were for May 8, 2010. May 8 was our one year anniversary together, so we thought this would be the perfect way to celebrate. We knew that the minimum order had to be at least the cost of a day’s admission, so we figured why not go for the Five Course Meal?
The Five Course Meal is $85. Wine pairing is an additional $50. Here is a photo of the menu.
The first course was delicious: Warm spinach salad with pancetta bacon and sherry dijon dressing. The flavors worked interestingly together. I’m also used to cold salads, not warm, so that was new.
The second course was lake whitefish with meyer lemon and a yam and pomegranate croquette. I never would think to group these flavors together. I’m also not a fish person, aside from the occasional tuna sandwich, but, oh, Club 33, how you have changed my mind about fish! (But only your chefs can prepare it for me!)
Course three: New York strip steak with oven roasted vegetables and aromatic hollandaise. I have never had a better steak in my life! The meat was so tender, so succulent; it melted in your mouth. The portion size was also massive (at least in my opinion). The sauce on top tasted buttery and rich, and my tastebuds were absolutely having a ball.
Now, if you’re a fan of artisan cheeses, then you’ll love the fourth course. I love cheese, but not these kinds. I’m more of a cheddar, Monterey jack person. None of that here, these are the fancy cheeses! My boyfriend and I have done cheese tasting before (thanks to the Food and Wine Festival going on at California Adventure through May 31), so we knew what flavors, textures and finishes to expect. Our cheeses this time around were a bit more pleasant than the first ones we had tried (thank goodness).
The last part of our meal was dessert! There is a dessert listed on the Five Course Meal menu, but you’re able to substitute it for another dessert if you so choose, free of charge. Our server Lisa explained our list of options. My boyfriend opted for the chocolate trio while I chose to stick with the original menu choice, caramel apple charlotte tatin and fleur de streusel. The desserts were so rich and delicious! I wish I could have them every day.
Chocolate Trio (L to R): Chocolate and hazelnut tart, chocolate molten lava cake, and a chocolate mousse.

Of course, the Club 33 experience isn’t just about the food — it’s about the surroundings. The restaurant was beautiful with a peaceful ambiance, despite the fact that the dining rooms were filled with loud chatter and the clanging of crystal wine glasses. The furnishings of the restaurant are also magnificent: antiques from Lillian Disney’s personal collection, as well as original Disney concept artwork. Even the bathrooms looked amazing! (And the Club 33 bathrooms are the only bathrooms in the park that have two-ply toilet paper.)
Leaving was the hardest part. It killed me to have to walk out the door. We said goodbye to the wonderful staff and headed out the door, back into the hustle and bustle of busy New Orleans Square. My boyfriend and I will DEFINITELY be back for another Club 33 dining experience.
