Breast Cancer Awareness Brings Out Support from Star Wars Fans

Breast Cancer Awareness Brings Out Support from Star Wars Fans

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a fundraising walk that takes place every year to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Again this year on October 14th the walk will be notched up by the Midwest Garrison, which is the Illinois Chapter of The 501st Legion. The 501st Legion is a Star Wars Imperial costuming club which creates and wears costumes of the “villains” of the Star Wars Universe.

Every Autumn, members of the group make a truce for a good cause and within the Galactic Civil War and enemy forces and allies join together to raise money.

The 501st Legion puts its time and resources to good use through volunteerism and fundraising.

As its website observes, “Some fans are content to collect action figures…other fans want to be action figures.”

Donations are also being taken at the team’s fundraising page.
