App Review: Disney Publishing’s The Jungle Book!

With the release of the Disney Publishing app Dumbo: Disney Classic, Disney Publishing has opened the vault for some special savings!  From now until September 26, 2012, you can get Walt Disney’s The Jungle Book app for the low price of $1.99, half off of it’s regularly priced $3.99!

The Jungle Book is built upon many of the same features that Bambi is, but it does have some differences.  One nice feature is that you are able to take a picture and put it on the title screen so that you can show who owns the book!  Additionally, you can type their name in the “This book belongs to:” section of the page also.

As you can see from this shot, there are plenty of interactions waiting for your child as she explores the Jungle Book story.  In this scene, let your young one put together the puzzle to complete the picture!

The book takes you from when Mowgli is sent off into the forest, and is discovered by Bagheera, who takes pity on the baby and delivers him to a wolfpack to raise him.

Feel free to sing along with your pal Baloo!  Who knows the songs you’ll sing!

As the story progresses, you realize that it really is in the best interests of Mowgli to get him back to a village where he can continue to grow with the humans.  Watch out, though, for the journey isn’t a walk in the park!  Watch out for Kaa as he attempts to squeeze the life out of Mowgli!

Also, that King Louie has something up his sleeve, he wants you to teach him the secret to man’s red fire!

In the end, though, Mowgli is delivered to the village, and even though he is sad, he knows that it is in his best interests to stay there rather then with his friends in the forest.

Like almost all of the Disney Publishing apps, this app is really well done!  It combines a classic Disney story with interactive features for your children to enjoy, and helps your early reader learn as grow with the book.  This book is a bargain at $3.99, but it’s even better at $1.99, so act now and you can own it too!  It works on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
