New Permit Filed for Tangaroa Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
A new permit filed for Tangaroa Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is raising some interesting questions about the future of the long-unused building.

The Notice of Commencement lists Facility Asset Management with KHS&S as the contractor and carries an expiration date of December 31, 2027. That lengthy timeline stands out, since permits stretching that far into the future can point to more substantial work than a simple maintenance project.
Tangaroa Terrace sits outside the Great Ceremonial House and has served several purposes over the years. It originally operated as a buffet restaurant, later became the Neverland Club kids club, and most recently has been used as a Cast Member break area. Because of that history, a new long-term permit naturally opens the door to speculation that Disney could be preparing the space for something more significant.
There is currently no confirmation that Tangaroa Terrace will return to guest use, and the permit itself does not reveal a detailed scope beyond general conditions. Facility Asset Management permits are also often tied to infrastructure and upkeep rather than brand-new guest experiences, so there is still plenty of room between a sizable refurbishment and a full reopening.

Still, with a contractor attached and a permit extending through the end of 2027, this is one project at the Polynesian worth keeping an eye on. If Disney is getting ready to give Tangaroa Terrace a new chapter, we will be watching to see whether the old favorite eventually welcomes guests once again.
