An ocean of adventure is heading to Disney Dreamlight Valley. During the recent D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Gameloft pulled back the curtain on The Keepsake Sea—the fourth major expansion coming to the hit life-sim.

We sat down exclusively with the Gameloft development team, Joshua Labelle – Creative Director and Riley Wignall – Lead Narrative Designer, at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in August 2026, to get an early, hands-on preview of what to expect when the tides roll in. From deep-sea exploration to iconic arrivals, here is everything you need to know about The Keepsake Sea.

What is Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Keepsake Sea?

Stepping far beyond the familiar landlocked biomes of the Valley and past expansions, The Keepsake Sea trades rolling meadows for the open ocean. This heavy-hitting expansion plunges players into an entirely new realm that spans sub-aquatic ecosystems and the swashbuckling universe of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Gameloft’s design team emphasized that this expansion was built directly around fan requests for more verticality and completely distinct environmental mechanics. Instead of just walking along the coastline, players will uncover mysterious underwater biomes, sun-drenched coral reefs, and legendary shipwrecks.

Key Features Revealed in Our Early Preview

  • Submerged Biomes & New Mechanics: For the first time, exploration stretches deep beneath the water’s surface. Gameloft teased unique navigation mechanics that allow players to interact with the ocean depths in ways standard land-based harvesting and tool use simply couldn’t support.

  • Captain Jack Sparrow Joins the Valley: The D23 reveal trailer dropped a massive surprise when the silhouette of none other than Captain Jack Sparrow swaggered onto the screen. Our preview chat confirmed that the iconic pirate captain will play a major role in the expansion’s narrative framework, bringing his signature chaotic charm—and likely plenty of rum-soaked mischief—to your village.
  • Fresh Customization & Crafting Loops: Expect a wealth of new sea-themed motifs, clothing, and furniture sets. Building enthusiasts will finally get the tools to transform coastal areas and underwater plots into custom oceanic paradises, complete with deep-sea materials and treasure chests.

  • The “Keepsake” Narrative Arc: True to the expansion’s name, the story centers around powerful artifacts and memories tied to the ocean’s history, driving a multi-act questline full of puzzle-solving and character-driven drama.

Release Window and Platforms

The Keepsake Sea is scheduled to launch in November 2026. It will be available across PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Apple Arcade.
