Top Sections of Mayan Pyramid Installed at Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent
Construction on Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent is reaching new heights at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, with two large sections of the attraction’s Mayan-inspired pyramid now installed at the Tropical Americas construction site.

New aerial photos from @bioreconstruct show the colorful prefabricated temple pieces sitting high above the attraction building. The sections were sculpted and painted backstage over several months before being transported to the site and lifted into place by crane, allowing a significant amount of detailed work to be completed away from the active construction area.
The newly installed pieces already feature extensive Maya-inspired carvings, weathered stone textures, and splashes of blue, red, and earthy tones. Openings visible near the top of the structure were used to attach cables during the lifting process. Below the completed sections, crews continue working on steel framing and large areas of rockwork that will eventually help blend the temple into its surrounding environment.
The scale of the structure is becoming much easier to appreciate as more of the facade takes shape. What was once largely exposed steel and concrete is quickly becoming a massive ancient temple, giving us one of our clearest looks yet at how prominent the new Indiana Jones attraction will be within Tropical Americas.
