Disney California Adventure Welcomes Back Plaza de la Familia
Fall has officially arrived at Disney California Adventure, bringing back one of the most heartwarming cultural celebrations in the park: Plaza de la Familia!
Located in Paradise Gardens, this vibrant, limited-time celebration honors the everlasting bonds of family and the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The centerpiece of the festivities is “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate Coco,” a lively musical performance that brings the beloved Pixar film to life.

Performed right in front of the iconic Plaza de la Familia archway, the 15-minute show is hosted by storytellers Alma and Ramone. Together with an ensemble of singers, musicians, and dancers, they guide guests through the story of Coco and the importance of remembering loved ones.
Show Highlights
- Interactive Dancing: The show opens on a high note with “The World Es Mi Familia”, where young guests are invited to participate using special shoe contraptions to tap and dance along.
- Traditional Mexican Folklore: The troupe performs a soul-stirring rendition of “La Llorona”, the iconic Mexican folk song featured prominently in the movie.
- Building the Ofrenda: As the story unfolds, images are revealed piece-by-piece on the storytellers’ decorative cart, eventually forming an ofrenda displaying portraits of Héctor, Mamá Imelda, and Mamá Coco.
- Puppetry & Beloved Songs: Miguel makes his appearance in puppet form to sing “Remember Me” and lead a crowd-pleasing performance of “Un Poco Loco”. He is joined by giant, life-size skeleton puppets that add vibrant energy to the street stage before wrapping up with a snippet of “Proud Corazón”.

If you’re planning a trip to Disney California Adventure this autumn, make sure to add this show to your daily itinerary!
