Disney Orders TV Pilot Based on Iconic EPCOT Landmark Spaceship Earth

EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth is Getting Its Own Disney TV Pilot

If you’ve ever ridden Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, leaned back in your OmniMover vehicle, and thought, “This would make an awesome TV show,” Disney was listening!

Disney+ has officially ordered a tv pilot episode for an upcoming sci-fi adventure drama series inspired by EPCOT’s most iconic landmark and time-traveling dark ride.

Produced by 20th Television, the project brings together a star-studded lineup of creative talent from some of the biggest hit shows in recent years.

Rather than a direct historical documentary or a slow ride through human history, the show is taking the attraction’s core concept—traveling through time to explore human communication and progress—and turning it into an epic sci-fi action adventure.

Here is the official logline released for the pilot:

“When a mission to avert an imminent global cataclysm goes awry, a small band of teenagers from Earth’s past and future must join forces to confront a threat as vast and mysterious as time itself.”

Disney is assembling major star power behind the camera for this project:

• Jason Fuchs (IT: Welcome to Derry, Wonder Woman) is set to serve as showrunner and executive producer.
• Michael Waldron (Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Avengers: Doomsday) will executive produce and co-write the pilot alongside Fuchs.
• Lee Toland Krieger (You, Shadow & Bone, Riverdale) will direct the pilot and executive produce.
• Adam Fishbach (Love, Victor) and Adam Fasullo (Anomaly Pictures) are also set to executive produce.

Adapting theme park attractions for the screen is a long-standing Disney tradition. From blockbuster movie franchises like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion to films like Jungle Cruise and Tomorrowland, Disney continuously looks to its parks for story inspiration.

If this pilot gets picked up for a full series order, it will mark one of the rare times an attraction turns directly into a live-action, serialized TV series for Disney+.
