Disney fans can now sail behind the scenes without leaving the couch as Season 3 of Behind the Attraction is streaming on Disney+. The first episode, Disney Cruise Line Origin Story, looks back at how Disney transformed a dream of bringing its signature storytelling to sea into a growing global fleet. Viewers will hear from Imagineers, cast members, crew members, and other creative leaders who helped reimagine what a family cruise vacation could be. The episode dives into signature Disney Cruise Line touches, including Broadway-style entertainment, dedicated spaces for kids, Rotational Dining, and the classic Mickey Mouse-inspired colors used across the ships. Fans may also spot Disney Legend Wing T. Chao, who helped lead the design of the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.
The episode also explores Disney Castaway Cay and the company’s efforts to preserve the natural beauty of its private island destination in The Bahamas. One fun piece of Disney history featured in the episode connects the cruise line back to Walt Disney himself, who enjoyed traveling at sea with his wife, Lillian, and took what was considered his first true vacation aboard a cruise ship in 1931.

Episode two takes viewers inside the Disney Destiny, where heroes and villains shape everything from the ship’s artwork and entertainment to its restaurants and lounges. The episode highlights experiences including Disney Hercules in the Walt Disney Theatre, De Vil’s Lounge, and Dr. Facilier’s Parlor, while introducing some of the artists, shipbuilders, Imagineers, and crew members who brought the ship to life.
It also looks at Disney Cruise Line’s efforts to improve fuel and energy efficiency as the fleet continues to expand.
