As part of Florida’s observance of America’s semiquincentennial, both Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) are embracing the America250 theme with special events, exhibits, entertainment, and eye-catching decorations throughout 2026. One of the first visible additions is the patriotic landscaping near MCO’s roadways, featuring vibrant red, white, and blue floral displays welcoming guests arriving at the airport.

The centerpiece of the celebration will be the Liberty Weekend Concert on June 27, a free patriotic performance featuring the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. The evening will also include a prelude performance by the Community Arts Choir and the presentation of the Col. Joe Kittinger Award, which recognizes a distinguished military servicemember. Additional festivities include an Independence Day Celebration in the airport atrium, a patriotic concert by Summer Breeze of Florida, and several themed art exhibits highlighting aviation, photography, and poetry.

Throughout the year, guests at MCO will encounter patriotic touches around nearly every corner. Special messages from Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will play on airport trams, red, white, and blue lighting will illuminate portions of the terminal, and America250 signage, vehicle wraps, exhibits, and interactive photo opportunities will help spread the celebration. Even MCO’s beloved Paw Pilot therapy dogs will join the festivities with special America250-themed bandanas.

At Orlando Executive Airport, visitors will find their own patriotic enhancements, including a large America250 greenery display visible from runway approaches and additional red, white, and blue lighting installations. GOAA officials say the initiative highlights both airports’ unique histories as former military bases while celebrating aviation’s role in connecting communities across America.
