Toy Story 5 Character Sparks Debate as Animator Claims Pixar Copied Cartoon Network Design
Animator Peter Browngardt, creator of the Cartoon Network series Uncle Grandpa, recently took to social media to call out Pixar over one of the film’s newly revealed characters. The character in question is Pizza with Sunglasses, a pizza slice sporting shades that will be voiced by music superstar Bad Bunny. Browngardt claims the design bears a striking resemblance to Pizza Steve, a fan-favorite character from Uncle Grandpa who is also a pizza slice known for wearing sunglasses.

Browngardt shared his thoughts on X, jokingly writing, “Pizza Steve is gonna be in Toy Story 5!?!” before adding that Pixar had simply “ripped off” his character design. While the comment was made with a dose of humor, it has sparked discussion among animation fans who quickly noticed the similarities between the two pizza-themed characters.
The debate comes as excitement continues to build for Toy Story 5, which arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026. The film will see Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of Andy’s beloved toys facing a new challenge as they compete with the modern technology and electronics that have captured the attention of today’s kids. Returning favorites will be joined by several new characters, including Lilypad, Smarty Pants, and the now-controversial Pizza with Sunglasses.
