Disney+ Taking Guests Behind the Magic of Polynesian Island Tower in New Documentary
Disney fans are about to get an all-access backstage pass to one of Walt Disney World’s newest resort additions. Disney+ will premiere The Magic Behind Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows on June 10, 2026, offering a deeper look into how Imagineers brought the Island Tower project to life.

The documentary will spotlight the creative process behind the tower’s design, architecture, landscaping, and storytelling elements, while also diving into the cultural inspirations woven throughout the resort. According to Disney, viewers will get to hear directly from the artists and Imagineers responsible for shaping the tropical escape, which features terrace gardens and nods to Bora Bora, Hawaii, Samoa, and Fiji.
The Island Tower officially expanded Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort with new Disney Vacation Club accommodations and updated amenities, blending modern resort design with the classic island atmosphere guests know from the Polynesian. This documentary appears set to explore not only the construction and design process, but also the philosophy behind balancing Disney storytelling with authentic South Pacific influences.

Of course, guests will need a Disney+ subscription to watch the special when it premieres this summer.
