Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin Now Spins Automatically

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin has officially returned to Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland following a month-long refurbishment that brings some significant technical changes to the wacky streets of Toontown. The most notable update is the removal of the manual, guest-controlled spinning mechanism, replaced by a new system that automates the chaotic motion of the ride vehicles. Alongside this shift in how you navigate the DIP-filled back alleys, the attraction has received several technical polishments to ensure Benny the Cab and the rest of the gang are running at peak performance for your next trip into the cartoon underworld.

Inside the updated taxis, the steering wheel now displays general safety instructions rather than spinning tips, and while it still rotates freely for those who want to “drive,” it no longer impacts the car’s actual movement. The ride’s mechanics have been recalibrated so the vehicle only performs a full spin three times, spending the rest of the journey rotating to face specific directions. Interestingly, this new programmed pathing may leave you facing backward for significant portions of the trip, which could cause you to miss several of the major scenes playing out in the colorful Toontown back alleys.

Beyond the shift in ride mechanics, the refurbishment brought several visual and logistical enhancements to the back alleys of Toontown. Technical updates include vibrant new LED lighting within the fireworks crates, a fully restored and functional Dipmobile, and a much-needed refresh for the “portable hole” version of Roger. To improve guest flow, the exit queue was streamlined by removing tire props and railings to better accommodate ECV scooters. Additionally, the arrival experience has been simplified with a new dedicated stroller parking area conveniently located right in front of the attraction, moving it away from the nearby park and the Toontown entrance.
