New Trailer and Poster Starring Dwayne Johnson and Catherine Lagaʻaia for Disney’s Live-Action Moana Out Now
The ocean is calling once again as Disney debuts the official trailer and poster for the highly anticipated live-action reimagining of Moana. This new cinematic event stars Catherine Lagaʻaia as the brave wayfinder Moana, alongside Dwayne Johnson, who returns to the big screen as the legendary demigod Maui.

In addition to the new footage, fans can now watch the Artistry of Moana featurette (see below). This special behind-the-scenes look offers commentary from the film’s lead stars as well as director Thomas Kail, costume designer Liz McGregor, and choreographer Tiana Nonosina Liufau.
Meet the Cast of the New Adventure
The production brings together a talented ensemble to bring the Motunui community to life. Joining Lagaʻaia and Johnson are:
- John Tui as Moana’s steadfast father, Chief Tui
- Frankie Adams as her playful and strong-willed mother, Sina
- Rena Owen as the revered Gramma Tala
Directing this new take on the Oscar-nominated animated classic is Emmy and Tony Award winner Thomas Kail, best known for his work on Hamilton. The film is produced by a powerhouse team including Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Serving as executive producers are Kail, Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth, and Auliʻi Cravalho, who famously voiced Moana in both animated films. Fans of the original soundtrack will be pleased to know the film features songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi, and Mark Mancina, with an original score by Mancina.
Moana arrives exclusively in theaters on July 10, 2026.
