Pokémon Is Powering Up at Universal Studios Japan With Plans to Expand Worldwide
Pokémon is about to level up in a big way at Universal Studios Japan, with Universal Destinations and Experiences and The Pokémon Company officially announcing plans for bold, immersive, and world class Pokémon attractions that will eventually expand to Universal parks around the globe, including the U.S.

Universal Destinations and Experiences Chairman and CEO Mark Woodbury shared that collaborating with imaginative storytellers is key to delivering mind blowing experiences that shatter guest expectations, and this new Pokémon project is a major step in that direction. The announcement builds on Universal Studios Japan’s long term alliance with Pokémon, which began in 2021 and has already delivered popular offerings like the NO LIMIT! Parade and seasonal Halloween experiences.
While Universal has not confirmed a specific location, speculation suggests the new attraction could replace the now closed Amazing Adventures of Spider Man ride or potentially take over the shuttered Finnegan’s Bar and Grill space. Tak Murayama, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Universal Studios Japan, emphasized that Pokémon has been a fan favorite for years, while Pokémon Company President and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara noted that launching this project during Pokémon’s 30th anniversary makes the moment even more meaningful.

After debuting in Japan, Universal Destinations & Experiences will roll out unique Pokémon experiences across its global footprint, with more details promised at a later date.
