Universal Orlando Specialty License Plate Hits 1,000 Orders but Needs 3,000 to Become Reality
The Universal Orlando specialty license plate has officially crossed an exciting milestone, passing 1,000 pre sale orders as of December 22, with a total of 1,016 vouchers sold so far. That is a strong start, but there is still work to be done before this plate can hit the road. Florida requires at least 3,000 pre-sale vouchers for production to begin, and Universal has until October 2026 to reach that goal. If the minimum is not met by then, the specialty plate unfortunately will not be produced.

Florida currently offers more than 100 different specialty license plates, each supporting a specific cause or organization, with proceeds going directly to the group represented. Since the specialty plate program began, millions of dollars have been raised statewide, turning everyday commutes into rolling fundraisers. New specialty plates, including the Universal Orlando design, were authorized during the 2020 legislative session, kicking off the long pre-sale process that continues today.
The Universal Orlando specialty license plate was created to benefit Give Kids The World Village, a beloved Central Florida nonprofit that provides cost-free, weeklong wish vacations to children with critical illnesses and their families. Since opening in 1986, Give Kids The World Village has welcomed nearly 200,000 families from all 50 states and 77 countries, offering a joyful escape filled with attractions, themed villas, and unforgettable moments away from hospitals and treatments. The Universal plate design came after Give Kids The World previously attempted to launch its own specialty plate but fell short of the required pre sale minimum, leading to this new collaborative effort with Universal Orlando Resort.

Pre-orders for the plate are currently available both online and in person at local tax collector offices throughout Florida. Each voucher sold brings the plate one step closer to production and helps support Give Kids The World’s mission of delivering hope, happiness, and magic to families when they need it most. With nearly two years still on the clock, fans and locals alike have time to help push this plate across the finish line.
