Disney to Retire ‘Hulu with Disney+ Add-On’ Plan
Disney has announced it is phasing out the ability for Hulu subscribers to include Disney+ as a discounted add-on. This shift, rolling out over the next few weeks, represents a strategic pivot to consolidate how the two sister platforms offer joint access.
As Disney looks to streamline its services and boost competitiveness against rivals like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, the company is leaning into its unified ‘Disney Bundle’ as the primary way for users to enjoy both libraries.

The phase-out began on December 9, 2025, when Hulu officially stopped accepting new sign-ups for the legacy Disney+ add-on. For those who already have this feature, take note: your Disney+ access will be automatically canceled on your first billing cycle on or after that date. For many, this means access will vanish in early January unless action is taken.

To keep your shows streaming, Disney is moving subscribers toward the Disney Bundle, which effectively flips the script by making Disney+ the primary account holder. While the price points remain similar, this shift requires you to manage your subscription through the Disney+ portal rather than Hulu. Keep in mind that this migration may require you to re-enter payment info and update your app preferences. This consolidation is a major step toward 2026, when Hulu will fully merge into the Disney+ app, eventually retiring the standalone Hulu app altogether.
