Scaffolding Comes Down at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad as Refurbishment Progresses

Things are looking a whole lot wilder in Frontierland as scaffolding has officially been removed from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom. Just days after Disney shared a reopening window for the attraction, most of the visible scaffolding around the coaster has now come down, giving guests a clearer look at the progress happening on the runaway train favorite.

From areas visible along the guest walkways, all publicly viewable scaffolding appears to be gone. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been undergoing extensive testing for several weeks now following a major refurbishment that included replacing the entire coaster track and refreshing the ride vehicles. With that level of work, Disney requires prolonged testing without riders to ensure everything is running safely and smoothly before reopening.

While construction walls were shifted forward last week, they have not moved since. The walls continue to block the main entrance to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and still extend toward the Frontierland train station. Previously, the walls ran closer to the exit queue and the former Rivers of America area, but access to the attraction remains fully closed for now.
