Disney Imagineers Help Revitalize LA Community Spaces
Lending their creative talent to a crucial cause, Disney Imagineers are helping Los Angeles rebuild post-wildfires by completely reimagining a community space, specifically focusing their efforts on the town of Altadena.
Following its generous $15 million donation in January toward Los Angeles fire relief efforts, The Walt Disney Company has dedicated $5 million of that fund specifically to rebuilding community spaces. This major investment will be used to revitalize Charles White Park in Altadena, along with two other key parks in the area.
Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, explained why the space was chosen:
“Los Angeles has been home to The Walt Disney Company since its founding more than a century ago, which is why we felt a special responsibility to help this community rebuild in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires earlier this year. I’m incredibly proud of our Imagineers who are volunteering their time and talents to help reimagine cherished public spaces like Charles White Park. Their work is not only a testament to Disney’s creative spirit, but also to our deep commitment to our neighbors throughout this region. We hope this effort brings comfort, joy, and a sense of renewal to the Altadena community for years to come.”
Disney Imagineers have collaborated closely with Los Angeles County officials to reimagine the park, ensuring that the design preserves elements that survived the fires while introducing exciting new features. Concept art for the revitalized community space reveals large, imaginative pinecone-shaped play structures (inspired by the park’s Deodar Cedar trees) complete with bridges and slides, as well as climbing boulders, swings, and a splash pad. The designs also include modern amenities like sports fields and a new amphitheater.
