Disney Studios & Pixar Reveals Exciting Movie Slate for the Coming Years at Destination D23
The Walt Disney Company’s highly anticipated upcoming projects took center stage at Destination D23, a fan event held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The exclusive Disney Entertainment Showcase was filled with new announcements, never-before-seen footage, and special guest appearances, providing a glimpse into the future of the studio’s films and streaming content.
Hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown, the event highlighted upcoming projects from Pixar, Walt Disney Animation, and Walt Disney Pictures, reinforcing Disney’s commitment to immersive storytelling across all its platforms.

Pixar Animation Studios
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Toy Story, the groundbreaking animated classic will be re-released in theaters on September 12, 2025. Adding to the excitement, a new Buzz Lightyear balloon, with a brand-new design, will fly in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time since 2013.

In other Toy Story news, Pixar unveiled a sneak peek of Toy Story 5, which is set to arrive in theaters on June 19, 2026. Fans were shown a first look at the new character Smarty Pants, voiced by Conan O’Brien, and an exclusive look at the film’s opening three minutes. The film will follow the toys as their jobs are challenged by the latest craze in electronics.

Pixar also offered a special preview of the original comedy Hoppers, coming to theaters on March 6, 2026. The film follows a college student who “hops” into the body of a robotic beaver to help save her favorite glade from a new highway. Director Daniel Chong and producer Nicole Paradis Grindle were joined by voice actors Piper Curda and Bobby Moynihan to introduce exclusive clips.

Walt Disney Pictures
During the showcase, it was announced that the original music from the upcoming film, TRON: Ares, will be featured in a new limited-time overlay on the TRON Lightcycle Run attractions at Walt Disney World and Shanghai Disney Resort. The film’s score, composed by the pioneering industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, will debut on the rides on September 15 and 16, respectively.

Disney also announced that the original 1982 cult classic TRON and its 2010 sequel, TRON: Legacy, have both been fully remastered in 4K Ultra HD. Both films will be available on digital and Blu-ray SteelBook on September 16, 2025. TRON: Ares, directed by Joachim Rønning and starring Jared Leto, follows a highly sophisticated AI Program that is sent from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission.

Walt Disney Animation Studios
Jared Bush, chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, took the stage to reveal the title of the studio’s new original feature, Hexed, which is scheduled for November 2026. The film follows an awkward teenage boy and his Type-A mom who discover his magical powers, turning their lives and a secret world of magic upside down.

Bush also provided several updates on the highly anticipated Zootopia 2, which is set to debut on November 26, 2025. Yvette Nicole Brown and Patrick Warburton were announced as new additions to the voice cast. Warburton will play Mayor Winddancer, a charismatic but clueless stallion. The film will follow rookie cops Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they go undercover in new parts of the city to solve a great mystery.

Disney+
