Extended NFL Draft Rights and Expanded Streaming

ESPN’s deep-rooted connection to the NFL Draft is getting even stronger. The new multi-year agreement extends ESPN’s rights, building on a history that began with the first televised draft in 1980. Starting with the 2026 NFL Draft, the event’s various presentations will be available for streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, in addition to the traditional broadcasts on ESPN, ABC, and ESPN Deportes. The new deal also includes a new daily show dedicated to the draft, which will air on ESPN2 from the day after the Super Bowl until the draft concludes.

Key Highlights of the NFL Draft Extension:

  • Dual Broadcasts: ESPN and ABC will each produce separate telecasts for Rounds 1-3.
  • Streaming Access: All draft presentations, including alternate broadcasts, will be available on Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN’s upcoming DTC service.
  • On-site Coverage: Popular shows like College GameDay and NFL Live will continue to be on-site, providing expert analysis.
  • Radio Broadcasts: ESPN Radio will continue its live coverage of the draft.

NFL Content Takes Center Stage on ESPN’s DTC Service and Disney+

ESPN’s new DTC service will be the centerpiece of an additional licensing agreement with the NFL. This pact expands the NFL experience with additional content and innovative interactive features. The agreement also allows for the sale and bundling of NFL+ Premium with ESPN’s DTC service, giving fans access to NFL Network and NFL RedZone.

New Features for NFL Fans:

  • Enhanced App Features: The new ESPN App will offer a multiview feature, allowing fans to watch simultaneous telecasts like Monday Night Football and the “ManningCast” at the same time.
  • Personalized Experience: The app will provide deeper customization, including personalized fantasy football team performance, legalized sports betting information, and integrated game stats.
  • Exclusive VOD Content: DTC subscribers will get exclusive video-on-demand content, including Monday Night Football replays.
  • Disney+ Content: The deal also expands NFL content on Disney+, with the potential for select simulcasts and the inclusion of highlights in shows like Vibe Check and SportsCenter+.

This deal represents a strategic play by both the NFL and Disney to adapt to the shifting media landscape, prioritizing streaming and digital engagement to deliver more NFL football to more fans in new and innovative ways.
