Mr. Potato Head Has Gone Missing at Disney Springs — And Now There’s a Mysterious Box in His Place

Well, spud lovers, it looks like our favorite plastic potato has officially mashed his way out of Disney Springs.

The beloved Mr. Potato Head statue that has long stood proudly outside the “Once Upon A Toy” store at Disney Springs has mysteriously vanished. In its place? First, a lonely potted plant… and now, a big gray box.

Last week, guests noticed that the statue, a faithful, full-sized replica of the iconic Toy Story character, had suddenly disappeared. The spot where he once greeted shoppers was cordoned off with black stanchions and decorated with a singular potted plant sitting atop the pedestal. An odd choice, but hey, plants need their moment too.

But as of this week, the scene has shifted again. The pedestal is now entirely concealed behind a large gray box featuring a sign that reads: “Please pardon our appearance. Something new is coming soon.” Cue the dramatic Pixar music.

The big question on everyone’s mind: Is this just a temporary refurb for our tuber buddy, or is something brand new sprouting up in his place?

Disney hasn’t yet offered any official details, but statue refurbishments aren’t uncommon. The Cinderella statue near World of Disney quietly vanished earlier this month, only to return just a few days later looking refreshed and fabulous. So Mr. Potato Head may just be getting a little TLC; maybe a new shine, some fresh paint, or even an upgrade to his accessories (new mustache, perhaps?).

Still, the wording on the sign has sparked speculation. “Something new” might hint at more than just a simple refresh. Could another character be moving in? Maybe a Bo Peep statue to balance out Buzz across the entrance? Or perhaps Mr. P is returning with a new pose or interactive element?

For now, fans can only guess what’s brewing behind the box. One thing’s for sure — this little corner of Disney Springs has suddenly become a-peel-ing for all the wrong (or right?) reasons.
