The recently filed notice, tied directly to Tom Sawyer Island’s address, names NorthStar Contracting Group, Inc. as the contractor. The scope of work outlined in the filing includes demolition, infrastructure preparation, and utility modifications for the island.

This demolition filing closely follows Disney’s confirmation that Tom Sawyer Island, along with the Rivers of Americaand Liberty Square Riverboat, will permanently close starting July 7, 2025. These closures are to clear the way for an exciting new Cars-themed land, rumored to be centered around Piston Peak National Park.

The new Cars-themed area is set to bring an immersive off-road rally experience, drawing inspiration from the unique landscapes and storytelling of the American frontier. As part of this significant expansion—the largest in Magic Kingdom’s history—Tom Sawyer Island, a long-standing walkthrough attraction from the park’s early days, will be entirely repurposed to make way for this exciting new land.
