It’s Curtains for the Muppets: Final Week Before MuppetVision 3D & PizzeRizzo Close to Make Way for Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Get ready to wipe away those felt-filled tears — we’re officially in the final countdown. Saturday, June 7, 2025, will mark the very last day you can experience MuppetVision 3D and grab a slice at PizzeRizzo at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. On June 8, both will close permanently to make way for something monstrously big: Monstropolis — a brand-new Monsters, Inc.-themed land!

Say Goodbye to Muppets Courtyard
It’s not easy being green… or saying goodbye. For over 30 years, MuppetVision 3D has delivered laughter, chaos, and enough 3D pies to the face to keep audiences giggling. Meanwhile, PizzeRizzo has served up New York-style pies with rat-tastic charm, giving fans a quirky place to eat and quote Rizzo-isms like, “You’ve tried the rest, now try the best!”
This week marks your last opportunity to:
- Enjoy the hilariously chaotic 3D antics of Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and the gang
- Grab a final slice (or three) of Rizzo’s pizza in the upstairs reception hall
- Snap photos with the iconic Miss Piggy fountain and Muppet Courtyard theming one last time
Come Sunday morning, it’s lights out for this fan-favorite corner of the park.
What’s Next? Welcome to Monstropolis! 👹🚪
Once the Muppets exit stage left, construction will officially begin on Monstropolis, an all-new immersive land themed to Monsters, Inc. No official opening date has been announced, but this expansion promises to bring us into the world of Mike, Sulley, Boo, and the rest of the scare floor (or laugh floor) crew.
While Disney hasn’t confirmed ride specifics yet, speculation points toward:
- A door vault-themed coaster or dark ride
- A potential Meet-and-Greet with Sulley and friends
- Themed dining and shops straight out of the Monsters, Inc. universe

A Big Hole to Fill
Let’s be real: this isn’t just a simple swap. The closure of MuppetVision 3D marks the end of an era. This was the final Muppets attraction in a U.S. Disney park — a one-of-a-kind show co-created with Jim Henson himself. The loss of this zany, heartfelt, and unapologetically weird corner of Hollywood Studios is going to leave a Kermit-shaped hole in the park. Thankfully we are not completely saying goodbye to the Muppets, as they will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
That means Monstropolis has to be an absolute knockout. It can’t just be good — it needs to be scream-worthy. The Muppets may have been a niche fandom, but their presence added much-needed levity and character to the park’s lineup. Now, it’s up to Mike and Sulley to bring the same level of charm, humor, and repeat-visit appeal.
So whether you’re a die-hard Muppet maniac or just want one more taste of rat-run pizza, this is your week to soak in all the nostalgic glory. Come next week, we’re trading felt for fur and jokes for screams (or laughs).
