Space Mountain the Magic Kingdom Celebrates its 50th Anniversary Today!

Walt Disney World marked a momentous milestone yesterday, January 15th, 2025, with a dazzling celebration of Space Mountain’s 50th anniversary. The iconic attraction, a cornerstone of Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, was honored with a private ceremony, a spectacular fireworks display, and heartfelt tributes from celebrities and Disney executives alike.

Mickey Mouse and his pals, along with Walt Disney World Ambassadors Serena Arvizu and Shannon Smith-Conrad, gathered outside the landmark attraction to commemorate the occasion. A special video presentation showcased fond memories and anecdotes from a star-studded lineup, including Disney Legend Josh Gad and Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle, each sharing their personal connection to the beloved coaster.

Adding to the excitement, Donald Duck himself took center stage to launch a dazzling fireworks display from atop the iconic Space Mountain structure, illuminating the night sky with a burst of color and excitement. The celebration also unveiled a commemorative 50th-anniversary logo with the tagline “50 Years & Beyond,” hinting at the continued legacy of this timeless attraction.

Since its grand opening on January 15th, 1975, Space Mountain has thrilled generations of guests with its innovative indoor coaster experience. Designed by Arrow Dynamics, the attraction features two unique tracks, Alpha and Omega, sending riders on a thrilling journey through the cosmos within its distinctive white conical structure.
