Walt Disney Company Cuts 140 Jobs from Entertainment Television

Disney Entertainment Television has laid off 140 employees, primarily affecting National Geographic, as part of its ongoing cost-cutting measures.

The layoffs announced months ago but implemented today according to Deadline, represent 2% of the division’s workforce, with National Geographic experiencing a 13% reduction in staff.

Other impacted divisions include ABC Owned Television Stations, Freeform, Unscripted, Marketing, and Publicity, with nearly half of the jobs lost in Burbank, California.

This round of layoffs follows previous cuts at Disney, including the elimination of 175 positions at Pixar in May. These actions reflect Disney’s efforts to achieve its previously announced goal of $7.5 billion in cost reductions.
