Disney has unveiled a roar-some first look at “Mufasa: The Lion King,” the highly anticipated prequel hitting theaters this December 20th. This exciting new film explores the rise of Mufasa, the beloved king of the Pride Lands.

Adding to the excitement, award-winning songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda joins the team, writing the film’s songs alongside Mark Mancina! Additional music and performances come from Lebo M., continuing the film’s rich musical legacy.
In a heartfelt message, Miranda expresses his honor to be part of such a legendary franchise: “From Elton John and Tim Rice to Hans Zimmer, Lebo M., Mark Mancina… ‘The Lion King’ has an incredible history. I’m humbled to contribute alongside Barry Jenkins and can’t wait for audiences to experience this film.”
“Mufasa: The Lion King” takes us on a journey narrated by Rafiki for young Kiara, Simba and Nala’s cub. We’ll see Mufasa’s story unfold through flashbacks, starting as an orphaned cub. Little Mufasa finds companionship with Taka, heir to a royal bloodline. This chance encounter sets the stage for an epic adventure – a test of friendship and destiny for a group of extraordinary misfits facing a dangerous threat.
