Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Hollywood offers up a variety of Food & Drink Offerings
When you think of Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) at Universal Studios Hollywood, your mind might instantly race to the spine-chilling haunted houses. But there’s another layer to the terrifying tales told at HHN: the food and drinks. Far from being just mere refreshments, they’re an integral part of the narrative.
Each year, HHN takes inspiration from new movies, shows, and myths, offering guests a complete immersion. Beyond the haunted houses orchestrated by John Murdy and his team, the culinary team gives these tales a delectable twist, allowing fans to literally consume their favorite horror stories.

Universal Studios Hollywood’s executive chef Julia Thrash and shared services manager Erick Massmann lead the creation of the Halloween Horror Nights menus each year. Their process of creating the HHN menus begins the moment they get wind of the upcoming HHN houses, which includes researching the ins and outs of each house’s backstory. Such diligence resulted in the crafting of the “Stranger Things” menu, which highlights the iconic Surfer Boy Pizza from the show.
The HHN culinary adventure ventures further into the wicked world of “Chucky” this year. Despite her hesitations towards horror, Chef Julia had an absolute ball developing the meat-heavy “Chucky” menu, which features items like the “Friends to the Burnt Ends” pulled pork sandwich and the “Chucky’s Mac-assacre & Cheese”.
The drink offerings are another element that should not be missed. Erick Massmann’s approach to the HHN cocktail menu can be summed up in one word: theatrical. Whether it’s the candy hibiscus flower in the “Upside Down” cocktail that unfolds like a Demogorgon’s head, or the pull-apart red licorice that crowns the “Mind Flayer” cocktail, each drink is an Instagram sensation waiting to happen.

Every ingredient has a story to tell. A striking example is the “Wanna Play?” cocktail, inspired by Chucky. With its playful appearance contrasted by a gory gummy eyeball centerpiece, it’s a drink that embodies the deceptive nature of its namesake.
The bar also pays homage to legendary figures of Latin American horror myths. From the vibrant Tlahuelpuchi Margarita to the haunting La Muerte cocktail, each drink at the Día de los Muertos Bar is a toast to the monstrous legends of yore.
The next time you’re at Halloween Horror Nights, remember: it’s not just about the scares. It’s also about savoring every horror-infused bite and sip. And if you’ve already attended the event this year, which of the HHN treats tops your list? Share your favorites in the comments. We’re dying to know!
