Large Crane Returns and Walls Go Up Around Cinderella Castle. Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary ended at the end of March 2023, and Disney is working on removing the overlay on Cinderella Castle. We have seen the swag and banners already removed, and now they are about to remove the gold spirals on the turrets.
To remove the spirals and banners Disney has constructed some walls behind Cinderella Castle, and brought in a giant white crane to help with the process. You cannot walk behind the Castle between the Wishing Well and the entrance to Sir Mickey’s.
This does not affect any stores being open. Along with Cinderella Royal Table, everything is still open in that area behind the castle. Work should be done pretty fast as Disney does not like to interrupt traffic or views of Cinderella Castle to daily guests.
