For the first time on Blu- Ray, O Brother, Where Are Thou? (now available) stars George Clooney and John Turturro as they embark on a hilarious and quirky adventure.
Fed up with crushing rocks on a prison farm in Mississippi, the dapper, silver-tongued Ulysses Everett McGill (Clooney) busts loose… except that he’s still shackled to two misfits from his chain gang: bad tempered Pete (Turturro) and sweet, dimwitted Delmar (Tim Blake Nelsen). With nothing to lose and buried loot to regain, the three embark on a riotous odyssey filled with chases, close calls, near misses, and betrayel. O Brother, Where Are Thou will leave you laughing at every outrageous and surprising twist and turn!
One of my husbands all time favorite movies, O Brother surprised me – even the title sounds serious and with the opening scene showing men on a chain gang singing along, you don’t quite know what to expect. Within a few minutes though, you realize this movie isn’t what you’re expecting. As George Clooney and his comrades escape from the gang and instantly get themselves in a bind. Along the way, they meet a blind prophet, find themselves in the middle of an open water Baptism, and meet many strange characters, all while becoming an, unknown to them, singing sensations. Oh, and they run into a one-eyed bible salesman, as portrayed by John Goodman.
This movie is not one to be easily described, other than saying it’s a long and adventurous journey. Instead of Homer’s time, this is based in the deep south. They run into the KKK, Southern Religion, and nice small town people along the way while running from the law as escaped convicts.
The Blu-Ray has a few impressive special features, including a music video (from the singing sensations). My favorite, however, was the side-by-side comparison of the actual movie to the Storyboards. It’s incredibly interesting to see how the storyboards actually turn into the movie, giving an insight into the creators thoughts and vision. Of the scenes they offered, they storyboard was so close to the actual movie that it was impressive to watch.
If you’re into a dry wit, this movie will definitely make you laugh. Though it’s not quite slapstick comedy, it’s definitely a comedy and a comedy starring George Clooney rates high in my book. Hope you enjoy!

It’s definitely an underrated movie. I would never have watched it had my husband not loved it so much. It’s very dry, but very funny!
I have not seen this one , I think maybe I should after the review I read
