Disney CEO Bob Chapek would like to see all of the company’s streaming products combined on Disney+ someday.
Chapek made several comments about the Walt Disney Company’s streaming service goals at today’s Goldman Sachs investor conference.
However, to combine streaming assets, Disney would have to purchase Hulu outright from minority owner Comcast’s NBC Universal.

Bob Chapek went on to say the following:
“We would love to get to the endpoint earlier, but that obviously takes some level of propensity for the other party to have reasonable terms for us to get there … If we could get there, I would be more than happy to try to facilitate that.”
The company’s goal of reaching 135 million to 165 million Disney+ subscribers by the end of fiscal 2024 will be determined in great part by its ad-supported service that debuts Dec. 8 in the U.S. The new service, he added, will be “operating margin neutral at worst” compared with the full-price version.
Other companies, such as Warner Brothers Discovery, plan to combine their services. It would be beneficial for Disney if all of their Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN content were on a single service, too.
Under a 2019 agreement, Disney has the right to force a sale of Comcast’s stake at fair-market value, starting in 2024, with a floor valuation of $27.5 billion. However, the valuation is likely to change before any possibility of Hulu being available for companies to bid over ownership.
