Disney files patents for robot sherpa that could transport park guests’ items for them
Disney parks have lockers that allow guests to store their items for a fee. However, when guests need to access those items, they sometimes have to walk all the way across the park to get to the lockers. Disney is looking toward providing a more convenient option.

Disney recently filed a patent for a “Robot Sherpa.” This would be like a mobile locker and guests could access their stored items at any time by recalling the locker to them through a mobile app.
The robot locker would have cameras to navigate the crowds at the parks. The storage compartment would be detachable so it could be moved to another mobile unit if needed.

“The storage compartment can be coupled with either the same or a different mobility unit,” the patent reads. “The mobile lockers can be recalled by a customer to either the customer’s location or to designated locations at the venue. The lockers can include any one of multiple locking mechanisms.”
The patent list some options like storing a packed lunch or an umbrella. A mobile locker would be great for a number of reasons! Guests could store the merchandise purchases they make in the park. Guests with disabilities or guests with kids could find these robots especially useful.
