A federal judge has just dismissed the lawsuit that Osceola & Orange County Taxpayers filed against Governor Ron DeSantis over the recent bill that would dissolve Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District.
Residents are worried that Disney’s $1 billion in bond debt would be transferred to the local counties and could increase property taxes by $2000 – $3000.

U.S. District Court Judge Cecilia Altonaga dismissed the lawsuit as the bill does not take effect until 2023 and the federal court doesn’t have jurisdiction over a state issue.
The Lawsuit was filed in federal court by an attorney running for U.S. Senate, Will Sanchez, on behalf of three taxpayers in Osceola County, and one in Orange County. The residents plan on refining the lawsuit.
