50 Teachers Chosen for Disney Imagination Campus Celebration

It’s almost the end of the school year, which is a great time for families and teachers alike! Disney wants to help teachers know how valued they are by inviting 50 teachers from all over America to be their guests. Those teachers will take part in a celebration of America’s education heroes at Walt Disney World Resort in late May.

It’s a special year at Walt Disney World, where guests and Cast Members are all celebrating its 50th anniversary. That makes this year’s National Teacher Appreciation even more fun! The chosen teachers will arrive during Memorial Day Weekend. Elementary, middle, and high school teachers will all be represented in the 50 selected. They will enjoy unique entertainment experiences in the parks, a parade at Magic Kingdom Park, and stimulating sessions offered by Disney leaders and Imagineers, as well as a Broadway performer.

These 50 teachers will be coming from 32 different states across the country. There were over 5,800 written applications to participate. Teachers were chosen based on creativity and imagination demonstrated in the classroom. They had to show how they spark their students’ minds and how they positively impact the lives of their students. Teachers had unique classroom activities on their resumes, which included an escape room, a New Year’s Eve ball-drop event, and a classroom made into an interactive version of the Titanic.

Javier Moreno, a senior vice president at Disney Destinations had this to say about the event: “These 50 teachers, along with thousands of other educators around the country, deserve to be celebrated for their continued efforts to inspire our nation’s children through the imagination-powered learning philosophy that is at the core of our Disney Imagination Campus.” (Disney)

Disney Imagination Campus offers educational experiences for visiting student groups both at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort California. They offer interactive workshops, performances, and special events involving a variety of subjects. The programs are specially designed to utilize Disney franchises, Disney Imagineering, and Disney Live Entertainment to encourage and inspire creativity. They’re based on a hands-on approach that emphasizes skills such as leadership, creative problem-solving, and collaboration.
