The Ducks and Disneyland Resort also came together during the Ducks 25th Anniversary season in 2018-19, with the first “Anaheim Ducks Day at Disney California Adventure® Park.” The National Hockey League club was founded in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company and was originally known as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, a name which was inspired by the 1992 film, “The Mighty Ducks.”
On Dec. 10, 1992, The National Hockey League announced that the company had been awarded a conditional expansion franchise to begin to play in the 1993-94 season. The team was officially named the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on Mar. 1, 1993, with the club’s logo and colors unveiled on June 7, 1993.
The Ducks original jersey became one of the most popular in professional sports. The name remained the same until the 2006-07 season when the club officially became known as the Anaheim Ducks.
