Dining Review of Epcot’s Space 220 Restaurant. “You cannot look up at the night sky on the Planet Earth and not wonder what it’s like to be up there amongst the stars” – Tom Hanks. Well, yesterday we got to dine amongst the stars. I am going to try to not over-romanticize this article, my fondness, and passion for the American Space Race of the ’60s and up to the new Battle of the Billionaires Space-X vs everyone else is a huge passion.
Who amongst us growing up in the early ’80s and watching the Space Shuttle, and being close in age to understand the importance of the John Glenns and Neil Armstrongs of this world did not want to go into space!
I can talk for hours on that moment you go up on the Space Elevator at the Space 220 Restaurant, and as you walk off and into the restaurant and see the giant blue sphere of Earth, and how it took my breath away. Because as a child, this was my daydreams come to life, I was promised this future! The Jetson’s told me I would be in space by now. Star Trek promised me a future of eating in the mess hall overlooking the galaxies.

Epcot’s Space 220 Restaurant
Disney and the Patina Group delivered those promises to me! Epcot’s Space 220 Restaurant is out of this world, plus the food is good. For those who are about to say, but the price is too much! It can be to some people. This is not the most affordable option on the Disney property, and it is not meant to be. Yes, you get great food and fun drinks, but what you are paying for is the experience. Disney does have food options for every budget.
Epcot’s Space 220 Restaurant is now open daily and is located in Futureworld, next door to Mission Space. Reservations have opened up and start on September 27th. This opening week is walk-up only. The lunch menu can be viewed here.
Our lunch choices –
BIG BANG BURRATA
Burrata di Mozzarella, Grilled Artichoke Hearts, Arugula, Sunflower Seed Romesco
FLAT IRON STEAK*
Coffee Space Rub, Smashed Fingerling Potatoes, Cabernet Butter, Haricots Verts
So, how was the food itself? Decent, on the edge of being great. Our mozzarella was delicious and the artichoke heart salad paired very well. Definitely was a bit salty, but if I had been walking the park all day and needed to stop and eat, then that extra salt would have worked perfectly.
The flank steak was perfectly cooked and the rub tasted amazing. Again, it was the side dish that was too salty and the demi-glaze was used to cut down on the salty taste. I would think they will get this corrected, and it could have just been my dish. So I can’t criticize them too much for this right now.
Is $55.00 dollars for lunch at Epcot’s Space 220 Restaurant worth it? I would absolutely recommend it. Again, you are paying for better food than most places in Epcot, and also for the Atmosphere. ( get it? Atmosphere? No, Bad pun, sorry).
My thoughts are simple, for the men and women who love space, and for those who know who Neil deGrasse Tyson is, and who can tell you what Sally Ride did, and wake up at 5 am to watch Space-X launch from Kennedy this is your new home and place to eat. This is for those dreamers who have wanted to eat in 10 forward. Go, Go now. Sit at the bar if you can’t find a table!
