Disney CEO Bob Chapek is heading to the White House today to meet with President Joe Biden to discuss workplace vaccine mandates.
According to the Hollywood Reporter:
Chapek will be part of a panel of business leaders set to discuss the White House’s vaccine mandate, which instructs OSHA (the Occupational Health and Safety Administration) to require companies with at least 100 employees to have their workers either receive a vaccination against COVID-19 or be tested for the virus regularly.
The Service Trades Council Union and Walt Disney World reached an agreement on mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations back in August. In the Agreement, Disney has made the decision to require all STCU represented employees to show proof of vaccination by October 22, 2021.

Employees with medical conditions or sincerely held religious beliefs will be eligible to apply for accommodation through a negotiated process. This process ensures prompt processing of requests for accommodation, weekly meetings between the Union and Company to address concerns as they arise, an explanation if any accommodation is denied, and access to the grievance procedure should there be a dispute on the accommodation request. Disney will make every effort to reasonably accommodate employees with a medical or religious accommodation need in their current role or classification. Cast Members who do not comply with the vaccine requirement and do not request a legitimate accommodation will be separated from the Company with a “yes” rehire status.
“The President will discuss their leadership on putting into place strong COVID-19 requirements that help keep a safe workplace,” according to a White House official. “This event will also serve as a rallying cry for more businesses across the country to step up and institute similar measures.”
